Things to Do in Savannah & The Low Country in July

events Summer Braddy July 2, 2025

July is here, and the heat is on—in more ways than one. Summer in the Lowcountry is sizzling with patriotic festivities, beachside escapes, and Southern charm at every turn. Whether you’re strolling cobblestone streets, cooling off in the Atlantic, or catching fireworks over the river, July is all about celebrating the season in true coastal style.

This month brings some of the most iconic events of the year, starting with Independence Day celebrations lighting up the skies from St Simons Island to Beaufort. We can look forward to a packed calendar of outdoor concerts, night markets, water activities, and special museum exhibits that make history and culture come alive. Think sandcastle contests on Hilton Head, riverside picnics at Emmet Park, and sipping sweet tea under the oaks while enjoying live jazz downtown.

Planning a visit? July is a favorite time for travelers seeking sun-drenched days and vibrant nightlife. Head to the beach for a dolphin cruise, hit the trails in Skidaway Island State Park, or explore the boutiques and bites along Bluffton’s Promenade. And don’t forget your camera—Savannah’s historic squares and marsh views glow golden in the summer sun.  Just know that the iconic Forsyth Park fountain is MIA this summer, getting some restoration work done.

Local Tip: July is also a great time to take advantage of indoor fun during the hottest hours of the day. Try a cool break inside the SCAD Museum of Art, Savannah History Museum, or hop aboard an air-conditioned trolley tour to soak in the stories without the sweat.
