4 Things to Do This New Year's Eve In Savannah!

December 30, 2018

One of our favorite parts about living in the Savannah area is that there is always something fun and exciting to do! With so many events and activities that have taken place this year, 2018 has been nothing short of amazing. If you're like us, you want to wrap up this year with one last extraordinary event before kicking off the New Year. Here are four things that you can do as you wait for the clock to strike midnight!

1. Gatsby New Year's Eve at Westin Savannah

Get dolled up in your fanciest Gatsby themed attire and make your way to The Westin Savannah Harbor Golf and Spa Resort! A ticket to this upscale event is your ticket to dance the night away in the hotel's Grand Ballroom. If dancing is not your forte or your simply need to take a break from being in the center of the dance floor, treat yourself to the decadent desserts or open bar. Officially welcome in the New Year with a champagne toast and fireworks on the Savannah River at midnight.

Tip: Treat yourself to a luxurious stay at the hotel to prevent the need for purchasing an Uber!

2. Fireworks on Tybee Island

If the beach is more of your scene or you are looking for an activity that the whole family can enjoy, head to Tybee Island to see the fireworks at midnight! This is not your average fireworks show. It is the largest New Year's Eve Fireworks show in the Southeastern United States. Start off 2019 with a "bang" as you watch the fireworks launch from the Tybee Pier at the stroke of midnight.

3. Jazz'd Tapas Bar 80's Party

Get "Jazz'd Up" and party into the New Year with your favorite 80s jams! This nostalgic event includes tapas for two, party favors, and a table reservation for the night. And of course there will also be a Champagne toast at midnight! This party gets started at 8pm and does not end until 1am so there is plenty of time to enjoy all of the night's festivities!

4. Up the Cup New Year's Celebration

We could not have a list of the top things to do in Savannah for New Year's Eve without mentioning the annual Up the Cup New Year's Celebration hosted by the Savannah Waterfront Association. In any other city, you will find a ball drop. Here in Savannah, we "up the cup"! If you have not experienced the 6-foot Wet Willie's cup raised over Rousakis Riverfront Plaza and the famous midnight toast with beautiful fireworks over the river, you are missing out on a treat!

The Up the Cup event begins on December 31st at 2 pm and carries into the New Year ending at 1 am! From Corn Hole and Beer Pong Tournaments to live music by Squash and the Emerald EmpireBand, this is an event that you do not want to miss!
